BIOGRAPHY
Drummado Wijnhamer is a Dutch conductor. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar, where he studies with Prof. Ekhart Wycik, Johannes Klumpp, and Prof. Gregor Bühl. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying with Ed Spanjaard, Antony Hermus, Bas Wiegers, and Karel Deseure.
In the past season, he conducted the MDR-Sinfonieorchester and the Dresdner Philharmonie. He gained experience as assistant conductor with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest (NL), and the Belgian National Orchestra, working with Lahav Shani, Vladimir Jurowski, Karina Canellakis, Edward Gardner, and Antony Hermus, among others.
He has collaborated several times with the Dutch National Opera Academy, conducting concert excerpts from Die Fledermaus, Hänsel und Gretel, and Carmen, and took part in a production of Suor Angelica in Saluzzo.
As part of his studies, he regularly works with the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Jena Philharmonic, and the Hofer Symphoniker.
In January 2025, he won first prize in the conducting competition of the Central German music academies, conducting the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig. The orchestra invited him back for two projects in the 2025/26 season. He also received third prize in the CAMPUS Dirigieren Competition and was a semi-finalist at the Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors. In 2025, Wijnhamer was awarded the Kersjes Conducting Prize.
Since March 2026 he is a conducting fellow of Forum Dirigieren of the Deutscher Musikrat.
He has also conducted at festivals such as the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam and the Festival Dag in de Branding in The Hague. Upcoming engagements include his debut with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Philharmonisches Orchester Kiel and Neue Philharmonie Westfalen.
